You know those moments when you read something and it seems to resonate in a way that most other things don’t? Those moments where as you are reading it you just keep saying “YES” in your head. I had one of those moments today. I read a lot about what makes relationships work, what happily ever after really looks like as well as the dedication it takes to actually commit to a marriage. It is my job to stay on top of these things and to be as current as I can on this material. The Huffington Post is not usually the place I go to find information to share on my blog or in my newsletter but I read this article today and I think it portrays such an accurate depiction of what most couples experience when they are married. Sometimes when we are going through different stages in a relationship we question if what we are going through is normal. My hope is that this article will not only be something you can relate to but also will show you what can happen if you choose to actually weather the storm in all of its tumultuous and painful glory and when you switch the focus from what you feel you need or want to what you can give. A healthy marriage truly is about sacrifice. Intrigued that the author found the quote from St. Francis of Assisi. This ties together with how Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us, when He died for our sin and rose again. Thanks for sharing an authentic portrayal of how a committed marriage can be. It is so much better together.
